Color Grading Assessment
These questions are designed to evaluate your current knowledge. If you answer ‘no’ to many of these questions, then this training is right for you.
1. Do you know the difference between color correction and color grading?
2. Do you know the three dimensions that create a color?
3. Are you aware of the biases in our vision and how that impacts the color grading process?
4. Do you know what log footage is and how to correct/normalize it?
5. Do you know the significance of the lift, gamma, and gain controls and how they affect an image?
6. Do you understand color temperature?
7. Do you know the difference between global and local color adjustments?
8. Are you proficient at white balancing an image?
9. If your skin tones contain too much green, do you know what color to add to neutralize it?
10. Do you know what role the waveform plays in color grading and how to interpret its readings?
11. Do you know how to use the vectorscope to analyze skin tone accuracy?
12. Do you know what role the RGB parade plays in color balance and how to interpret its readings?
13. Can you selectively desaturate a specific color in a video clip?
14. Can you selectively change a specific color in a video clip?
15. Do you have several strategies for achieving contrast and focus within a video clip?
16. Do you currently adjust lighting within your video clips?
17. Do you know how to track a power window or mask, either automatically or manually?
18. Do you understand how to work with LUTs and understand how they work?
19. Do you have strategies for shot matching?
20. Do you use color to evoke mood, emotion or to enhance the storytelling?
The six chosen individuals will receive notification via email by Tuesday, April 23rd.
The workshop will be Sunday 4/28 from 10:00-Noon.
